The color of this airy shirt isn’t neutral, but it seems to go with everything. We paired it with denim shorts (Hosna), white shorts (Marwa) and a tiered black skirt (Tina). While it isn’t hard to match t-shirts with any piece of clothing, we wanted to show this shirt off because it is one of the items we all find ourselves reaching for time and time again. It’s so easy to wear, and it can be tucked into pieces easily. We’d also wear it with the perfect jeans and a leather jacket.
The Fancy Sweats
These pants are so comfortable that it’s hard to believe they are “on trend” right now with all the major designers. From boots to heels to flip-flops, you can wear the pants with anything, although we all avoided sneakers because that would be a little too straight-from-the-gym. They’d also look good with a sequined shirt or a boyfriend shirt, although we’d stay away from anything too baggy so as to not look sloppy.

The Lace Pants
We all paired these vintage pants with loose shirts; whether tucked in or flowing over, a bigger shirt compliments the bohemian feel of the pants. The pants looked better with heels, so we paired them with wedges or clogs. We’d wear this shirt and these studded clogs with the pants as well.

The Golden Cardigan
The silk paneling on this cardigan dresses up any outfit, so we all paired it with more basic bottoms. While you can’t exactly call Hosna’s tutu skirt “simple,” its neutral color and light material made it the perfect match for the sweater. Marwa went hippy with studded flats and a headpiece, and Tina wore her current favorites, the relaxed trouser. (We’re all in love with this pant silhouette, because the cut is so comfortable and it makes any top look more polished.) We’d also pair the cardigan, buttoned up, with jeans and this antique-looking necklace.

Jason Wu
Designer Jason Wu sends perfectly executed evening gowns and the most ladylike sportswear down the runway each season. In fact, he rose to fame with his inauguration gown for First Lady Michelle Obama, so he clearly knows how to keep it sophisticated. We were thrilled to hear that Wu will be presenting his Spring 2011 collection to Nordstrom Fashion Valley customers in a few weeks. Any San Diego-area readers interested in meeting the designer or stopping by for some dessert and champagne, send us your email and we will provide details.

The Vintage Shirt
This vintage black shirt is made of silk and perfect for even the hottest of days. Due to weather constraints, aka the ridiculous heat wave CA has been experiencing, we all paired the shirt with skirts. Marwa’s schoolgirl take involved a pleated skirt and snakeskin clogs, Tina went for neon colors and leopard print, and Hosna kept her look athletic with sneakers and a sweatshirt-material skirt. In cooler weather, we’d pair the shirt with slightly destroyed denim skinnies from ASOS, the UK retail giant that Americans can finally order online from! Seriously, this store has everything at any price point- how cute are these lace-up leather wedges and these heart suspender tights?

SMWLA
Last week, we participated in Social Media Week in Los Angeles, where we attended some great social media workshops and panels. With a performance by Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics, the opening party set the stage for the week; hearing “Sweet Dreams” performed live was nothing short of amazing . Among the week’s standout events was the Style 3.0 Fashion Panel at the W Hotel in Hollywood. Panel speakers included reps from Moxsie and Kaboodle, and we picked up some great advice on how to best combine our love for fashion and digital media. The Hollywood Gets a Social Makeover Event at the Paley Center for Media also brought together some industry biggies, who discussed how studios are using digital media to reach new audiences. All in all, it was a wonderful week and we met some great people. (We were also the voice of SMWLA’s Facebook page, so we may have a little bit of a bias.) Looking forward to next year!

The Strong-Shouldered Sweater
We all wore this sweater pretty much the same way, which is funny considering that it is one of the easiest-to-style pieces we’ve worn for this blog. In any case, a lot can be said about Forever 21’s commitment to churning out trends so quickly and admittedly, sometimes the quality of their clothing suffers. This sweater, though, is super soft and honestly feels like something from a much higher price range. If you’re in a colder climate, the sweater would look cute under a fur vest and accessories-wise, the sweater is perfectly offset by funky knee socks.

The Lace Dress
Though this ballerina-esque dress initially seems a little too frou-frou, when paired with the right pieces, it is actually appropriate for most occasions. We’d also pair it with a tuxedo vest, wellies in the perfect shade of green, or the perfect black flats.
